Highlights

Capstone Project
For my final two semesters, I was part of a seminar and service capstone project. Our group chose intentional hourly rounding as our topic. From a synthesis of the literature, we established a program that we believed would lead to lower numbers of patient falls and pressure injuries, while simultaneously increasing patient satisfaction. We presented our project to Altru Health System of Grand Forks, ND. They agreed to implement our program and subsequently reported their findings. At the time, Altru was in a major restructuring phase, so their rollout was limited to one department. However, Altru reported that there was a lower reported number of patient falls and zero pressure injuries reported during the recorded time.

Business Plan
For NUR 560 Applied Healthcare Economics, Finance, and Budgeting, the class culminated in a large business plan. Though it was a group project, I formulated all financial spreadsheets/proformas and completed the financial portion of plan.

Supervisor Evaluation
"Mary is a most reliable and dedicated manager. She demonstrates a high level of expertise in all areas. Mary rapidly acclimated to the specifics of multi-specialty ASC throughout 2014. She has established herself as valued leader of the facility. Mary is always willing to help out wherever and whenever a need presents. She is a fair and empathetic manager, never asking for tasks she would not do herself. She has been a tremendous resource for the surgeons and the staff, and is viewed as a clinical expert. I look forward to continuing to work with Mary and value her supportive team spirit."
